. Terra Nova National Park is a popular park which offers everything from hiking to bird watching to boat tours.
. Central Newfoundland has 55 marked trails including the Alexander Murray Trail in King's Point.
. Whale-watching is spectacular in this area. Keep in mind that there are 22 types of whales in these waters.
. For iceberg-lovers, six kinds of icebergs show up in these waters.
. Camping is an unbelievable experience in Central Newfoundland. Campers can set up by the forest or shoreline.
. This region has its share of historic communities and towns such as the towns of Grand Falls-Windsor, Twillingate, and Gander.
. The settlers of the region have been traced back to the Dorset people. A soapstone quarry site and museum sheds light on that era.
. The Mary March Museum in Grand Falls–Windsor honors the Beothuks (early settlers in the region).
. Archaeological digs at Boyd’s Cove have revealed two Beothuk sites.
. The youngest Father of Confederation, Joseph R. Smallwood, was born in Gambo.
. The region has a heritage village – the Barbour Living Heritage Village. This site has 18 buildings including a fisherman's stage.
. The North Atlantic Museum in Gander focuses on the town's aviation history. Gander is known as the "Crossroads of the World."
. The 'Grand Falls' and its salmon are a splendid sight. People can view the salmon from the Salmonoid Interpretation Centre.
. The Sunny Cottage Heritage Centre in Harbour Breton is a Queen Anne-style home built in the early 1900s.
. The Long Point Lighthouse in Twillingate deserves a visit. This structure was built in 1876.
. Golf is better than average in Central Newfoundland. Gander Golf Club and Grand Falls Golf Club are two excellent courses.
