Do you judge teenage mothers?
I have three beautiful kids - Callie, Owen & Jude, but I'm only 17 years old (would be finishing grade 11, but I'm not in school right now). People always give me the weirdest looks on the street, as if I can't raise my children properly because I'm young. They jump to conclusions that I'm a single mother, who is struggling, when that is in fact not the case. I'm engaged to their father, we have an apartment, and we are making a steady income. My boyfriend is 21, and he's even considering going to college part time online, and I might go back and finish high school online. We are doing well for ourselves, but it still bugs me that people pass so much judgement. Do you judge teen moms when you see them on the street?
Being a teen mom, no I don't. I'm 17 and pregnant with my second kid, but I know what you mean. People give me nasty looks at the park when I go out with my baby, and it angers me so much. What? Just because I'm 17 means I can't be a good mom? Screw you guys haha.
My boyfriend and I are still together, and the economy is hard, so we live at home, but we are trying to get on our feet. But that doesn't mean I don't feed him well, dress him well, and take good care of him. Before him, I raised an autistic brother and my baby brother since birth. Well the autistic brother was two, and then four when I started taking care of him. But I go to the park with my brothers, and soon with my new sister, and my son, and people give me nasty looks. I even got a nasty comment one lady asked where our mom was, and I said, oh well the two oldest boys are my brothers and I'm just baby sitting them today, but the youngest is my son, Douglas. He loves his uncles. And The lady looked at me and said, What? Your just a baby yourself, you let your mother adopt the baby, right? I said, no, he is my son and I am his mother, I take care of my baby, thank you. And she looked at me and said, Well I hope the lord forgives you, because what you're doing is wrong. I was so dumbfounded. My autistic brother just looked at me and said, she's a meanie, I love you and you are a good mommy and sissy. And David, my other brother just hugged me. My son was being held of course, as he was only 7 months old, and cranky. Anyway, I don't judge, but many others do. Just smile and look the other way, you will probably end up more successful than them anyway. And probably lead a happier life.
