Baby Crib Mattress Safety Measures
It is important for parents to give priority to the safety of your baby anytime, whether outside or inside the house. Sudden infant death syndrome is the leading killer of children; therefore safety should be top of the list when caring for your baby. Security must be taken into account, even in his own crib.

1. A good size bed mattress. The standard size mattress measures 27 inches by 52 inches. This is the mattress for beds that are available today. It would be good if exact, removing the possible problem that extra space between the pad and the side of the crib can cause. But if you have an old cradle, the dimensions of the plate might not be exact or similar to what is stated above. It would then be preferable to know the exact size of the crib that you have before actually buying a mattress pad. In both cases the thickness should not exceed 6 inches, so your child would not be able to crawl out and experience a fall.
2. Know the laws and matters relating to the use of a crib mattress. The local regime is also concerned about the safety of your child so you need to heed their warnings and recommendations. Check to see if the brand of bed mattress you buy went through the flammability standard, approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The pad must also have appropriate warnings required by law. In addition to the above-mentioned Commission, check what mattress the American Society for Testing and Materials adopted.
3. Choose between two types of bed mattress. A mattress can be flat or too tight. The flat pad is found just above the mattress under the sheets. To use it, make sure the cover sheet is not easily removed or withdrawn. The too-tight kind is better, because the edges rest against the sides and angles of the whole mattress exactly.
After purchasing the mattress of your choice, make sure it is properly maintained. It must be cleaned regularly to avoid attracting insects that can bite your child. Mattress pads are important because they provide enough heat for your baby. It also acts as a cushion so that your baby does not need to rest or sleep on a hard surface. It would be best to check reviews of the best brands before narrowing down your choices. Read about the reputation of the brand and check all the recalls that have been made for their products. Be sure to choose the right mattress for your child's needs.
