Pink Roses Are the Traditional Mothers Day Flowers
Mothers day is soon approaching, and what better gift to give this year than flowers? Flowers are the time honoured gift of choice when it comes to Mother's Day presents.
Traditions of giving flowers to your mother on mother's day dates back many years to when child apprentices and servants were allowed to return home to spend Mothering Sunday with their mothers. The origin of Mothering Sunday are associated with the Christian church throughout Europe, as such it is celebrated on different days in different countries, however in the UK Mothering Sunday is inherently associated with Lent.
The story goes that when a child headed back home to see their mother they would pick wild flowers to give to their mum as a present. Back then wild pink roses were prevalent throughout Britain. Wild roses have an elegant yet delicate look to them and as such were a common choice of flower to find and present to mothers.
While this tradition is no longer around, pink roses are still heavily associated with mothers day. As such they make the perfect traditional mothers day gift, especially when presented complete in a vase or baske. A beautiful bouquet of flowers, especially pink roses, really makes a wonderful impression.
Giving flowers with a basket or vase is a thoughtful and loving gesture that any mother is sure to appreciate. Including a vase or basket helps distinguish your gift as a well thought out and planned present, rather than just something you quickly brought because you forgot to buy anything!
Trug baskets make an excellent choice and give a real old fashioned feeling to any bouquet of flowers. With their quaint handle and wooden basket they are a great way to not only enhance the look of the flowers but also to compliment their tones and style.

If instead you choose to send you mother a vase with her flowers this mother's day there is nothing more traditional than a clear cut glass vase. One of the benefits of a clear glass vase is that it allows you to see that the flowers are real, as well as giving a pleasing to the eye 'grouping' look to the flowers. This is especially true for long stemmed flowers such as roses.

Keeping with tradition is something that is coming back in to fashion over the past few years and taking the time to follow mothers day tradition and giving a beautiful bouquet of pink roses is a gesture any mum is sure to love!
Traditional mothers day flowers are especially perfect for older mums, who will be appreciative of a more delicate touch and be glad to have some beautiful roses to brighten up and add some femininity and grace to their home.
